Pierre S. du Pont purchased Pierce’s Park (acreage and home) in 1906 and developed the existing property into the future gardens, exhibition buildings known as world reknowned Longwood Gardens. Photo shows the main Conservatory building.
Handwritten on back: "Near the center of the present park area and just west of the conservatory was located this small building shown in the left of this picture. The building was used as a carriage shed"
